It all comes down to space
When it comes to working out safely, the more space the better. Understanding the importance of space, W3 Club is considerably more roomy than your average gym location. Krishan Patel, W3 Club’s General Manager, explains, “We’re in a very fortunate position at W3 Club as we’re uniquely abled to provide our members with more than ample space to workout safely. Our studios, gym floor and outdoor spaces occupy c50,000 sqft. I have worked in a lot of gyms in the past and I can tell you that this kind of space is just unheard of when it comes to a fitness facility. We want our members and staff to not only feel safe when they’re here with us, but actually be safe. With the space we have at our disposal we’re able to ensure that.”
This is not to say that you won’t notice more than a few changes on your next visit. Krishan explains, “We’ve moved our spin studio to part of the lounge to make use of the space, and we’ve moved the row machines to another part of the lounge that overlooks the tennis courts, so it’s really bright and open. This gives everyone plenty of space to distance themselves from one another. Plus, we have a big car park so our members don’t need to travel to us on public transport if they don’t want to.”
Cleanliness is the new wellness
“We took hygiene and cleanliness very seriously before COVID but now it’s even more important,” explains Krishan. “All the studios are cleaned thoroughly after every class, the surfaces are wiped down, the floors are mopped and all the kit is sanitised after every use. We’re so happy to see our clients helping out too. They’re cleaning everything they touch without being asked to. It’s always felt like a community here but it’s really nice to see everyone doing their bit.”
We’re in this together
One of the greatest things to come out of this trying time is a renewed sense of community. Clapping for our carers, volunteering, isolating when necessary to protect those who are most at risk and, of course, wearing a mask, are just some of the ways we have shown care for others since March.
You don’t need to wear a mask at the club but we ask that you make use of the hand sanitising stations on site and observe social distancing when possible. All of our staff will be wearing appropriate PPE and, for now, the changing rooms will be inaccessible unless you have booked a session at the pool or spa. “We’re asking our members to arrive at the club ready for their workout with their own towel and anything else they might need, like your yoga mat, for example,” explains Krishan. “We’re also asking everyone to pre-book their class, gym-slot, swim session etc, so that we can manage capacity.”
“No one knew what to expect when all this started,” says Krishan. “We’ve never experienced anything like this before but I have been so impressed with how our members and our staff have adapted. Our priority is to make sure that from the moment you walk through the door you feel safe and I’m so glad that the feedback we have had so far has been really positive. I’m proud of the community vibe we have at W3 and to welcome our members back we’re giving everyone 10% off their membership for three months.” So, let’s get back ON IT. We’ll see you at the club.
